Food Pantry Launches 2017 Holiday Food Basket Fundraiser

Once again, the Rotary Club of Wolfeboro is sponsoring the Holiday Food Basket fundraiser from Tuesday, December 5, through Saturday, December 9. It is to benefit the L.I.F.E. Ministries Food Pantry.

Volunteer Mike Turner, left, is interviewed during the fund drive

Our goal is to raise $45,000 from donations, but given the community’s donations in the past, we hope to exceed this amount. Please drop non-perishable food items and cash donations at Spencer-Hughes Real Estate Office, 22 S. Main Street, Wolfeboro and listen in to WASR AM Radio 1420 between 8 AM to 1 PM each day for updates on the drive!

Monetary donations are greatly appreciated to purchase food that we obtain at 18 cents on the pound at the NH Food Bank in Manchester.  Contributions may be made by sending your donations in the enclosed envelope.  The Holiday Basket is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the L.I.F.E Ministries food pantry. The food pantry currently has qualified 720 families for a total of 1791 people.

Every dollar that you donate to the Food Pantry buys 2 meals for a person in need. We are blessed to have very low overhead costs, just our portion of the utilities that we use, plus some insurance and modest office supply costs.  This ensures that the money donated does in fact go to the purchase of food.

Thank you for helping to support our neighbors! WASR, Rotary Volunteers, and L.I.F.E. Ministries personalities are broadcasting live on-air each day to receive your donations.  Listen for lively and fun conversations and interviews with local personalities as we seek to help those in need.

Festival of Trees Benefits L.I.F.E. Ministries Food Pantry

The annual Festival of Trees brings Wolfeboro’s community organizations and the business community together to benefit one or more organizations each year.

This will be the nineteenth Wolfeboro Festival of Trees, an annual charity benefit featuring more than sixty-five trees, uniquely decorated by area businesses and organizations, and displayed on two levels at the Wright museum. In addition to the trees, the exhibit features continuous entertainment and light refreshments.

Each year one or more beneficiaries are selected to receive proceeds from the event. This year we are privileged to be one of two beneficiaries. The selected organizations then provide volunteers and other support to the committee to conduct the event. Substantially all of the net proceeds are then given to the beneficiary organizations.

The 2017 Festival will be held on the Weekends of December 9, 10 and 16, 17 and Wednesday evening Dec 13th. The Preview Gala is scheduled for Thursday December 7th.

The Preview Gala is a well-attended cocktail reception that both opens the exhibit and ushers in the Wolfeboro holiday season. Wine and beer are provided and local caterers and restaurants serve samples of their best fare. Advanced reservations are required by calling 603-948-5504.
